Dual Sport of-the-year Overview
Dual Sport events allow riders of street-legal off-road motorcycles the opportunity to enjoy non-competitive trail riding on routes lovingly laid out by dedicated, experienced riding club members. (That's non-competitive, i.e. untimed, except you want to complete the morning loop before lunch is put away, and the afternoon before your spouse calls in the APB.) Participants either follow the club's painstakingly prepared maps and route sheets to stay on course, or simply blast around aimlessly ignoring said route sheet as well as thousands of brightly-colored arrows, saving just enough energy to bitch on the social media platform of their choice about how totally lost they got through absolutely no possible fault of their own.
Generally in dual sporting there's a "Main" loop intended to be ridable by all entrants, with optional sections of varying degrees of difficulty ("C"-"B"-"A", Green-Orange-Red) on the route sheet and map. Many dual sports strive for super easy main loops, offering the opportunity to advertise being "big-bike friendly." Neither RORR's available terrain nor club reputation lend themselves to such classification. Though we take some exception to being called "big-bike hostile," it admittedly isn't too hard to fathom how some might have that impression. In that vein, the option rating system is designed to reduce frustration levels on all participants, as well as sweep riders; so for the sake of everyone involved please be honest with yourself in deciding what options you will enjoy given your particular skill level after reading our description.
So there you have it! While it is best enjoyed with at least a little actual trail riding experience (not talking about your back yard or uncle's farm field), we look forward to welcoming the usual collection of enthusiasts, running the gamut from rookie to enduro champion. This event has a long history of drawing rave reviews from the entire spectrum.
